Staying safe in a heat wave

Five days of 100 degree+ heat are in the forecast through the weekend and until the 4th of July. That's dangerous heat for both people and pets, warns the Yolo County Health Department.

Health officials and animal welfare experts are reminding residents in West Sacramento and throughout the county to protect themselves and their pets, says county spokeswoman Beth Gabor in a press release.

Especially vulnerable, say experts, are:

If you were outside today, you may have noticed a giant ring around the sun. That ring is actually the reflection of ice crystals from high cirrus clouds, according to EarthSky.org

The ring was seen all over the area by News10 viewers, including Roseville and Stockton. Did you get a chance to see it?
