First Annual Sacramento Australian Rules Football Club Tournament

First Annual Sacramento Australian Rules Football Club Tournament

It’s gonna be a HOT ONE!

The temperature may be hot, but the competition is going to be even HOTTER!

Sacramento Suns bring the first ever Australian Rules Football Tournament to the Sacramento region!

Participating teams include the Sacramento Suns (men & women), Denver Bulldogs, Golden Gate Roos, Las Vegas Gamblers and the San Francisco Iron Maidens.

Australian Rules Football, also known as “Aussie Rules” or “Footy”, is a full-contact sport played without helmets or pads.  It is not rugby, soccer or any other sport.  Players kick or handball the ball (also known as footy) towards the goal to score.  It is the most popular sport in Australia, dating back 150 years.  Aussie Rules is the third largest spectator sport in the world.

This is a free event and opens to the public!

News10 My Neighborhood ran a week-long sweepstakes contest last week.

We asked our vusers to submit their definition of HOOPLA, and when they did, their names were automatically submitted into a random drawing.  Then, four lucky winners would receive four passes each to Golfland SunSplash.

This dictionary quiz sweepstakes contest was inspired as part of News10's Reading Connects campaign which is all about connecting with our community to help improve the literacy rate.

Well, we received over 90 responses, and some people were thoughtful enough to email us a sentence with the word HOOPA in it.  Here are some examples:
