(Woodland, CA) – The following programs will be held during the month of December at Yolo County’s Mary L. Stephens Davis Branch Library, located at 315 E. 14th Street in Davis:

The following special programs will be held during the month of December at Yolo County’s Clarksburg Branch Library, located at 52915 Netherlands Avenue in Clarksburg:

  • December 3: Thursday Theatre, 3:30 p.m.  All children and their families are invited to view a family-friendly movie (G or PG) at the library.  For movie title, call (916) 744-1755.
  • December 16: Winter Holiday Crafts, 6:00 p.m.  Come celebrate the winter season by making festive holiday decorations!

NOTICES: Yolo County Library branches will close at 6:00 p.m. on December 24 and 31 and will be closed all day on December 25 and January 1.

Davis Branch Library Celebrates 5 Years Since Renovation

The Yolo County Library is commemorating five years since the renovation of the Mary L. Stephens Davis Branch Library, located at 315 E. 14th Street in Davis, with a celebration on Saturday, December 12 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.

All are invited to attend this celebration that kicks off with welcomes remarks and a re-dedication ribbon cutting ceremony.  A Library Services Fair will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the Blanchard Room highlighting various library programs and services such as The SPOT Afterschool Program, the Yolo Reads literacy program, Ask-An-Archivist and more.  In addition all can participate in the following:

The following programs will be held during the month of December at the Winters Community Library, located at 708 Railroad Avenue in Winters:

  • December 1 and 15: Needle Arts, 4:00 p.m.  Come knit, embroider, sew, needlepoint, quilt or weave in a relaxing and creative environment.  All skill levels welcome.
  • December 9: Gingerbread House Extravaganza, 2:00 p.m.  Make gingerbread houses with the SUCCESS mentors from RISE, Inc.
  • December 27: Family Movie, 2:00 p.m.  All children and their families are invited to view a family-friendly movie (G or PG) at the library.  For movie title, call (530) 795-4955.

The following special programs will be held during the month of December at Yolo County’s Esparto Regional Library, located at 17065 Yolo Avenue in Esparto:

  • December 8: Mad Science of Sacramento Valley: Fire and Ice, 3:15 p.m.  Children will be dazzled at this spectacular show by dry ice storms, the whoosh of a fiery jet ‘engine’ and a Mad Science burp-flavored potion! 
  • December 15: Afternoon Movie, 3:00 p.m.  All children and their families are invited to view a family-friendly or teen appropriate movie (G, PG or PG-13) at the library.  For movie title call (530) 787-3426.

Tis’ the Season to Join Yolo County Library’s “Food for Fines” Program

The Yolo County Library is offering a new “Food for Fines” program this holiday season that allows library card holders who donate one food item to also clear $1 from their Yolo County Library overdue fines.  There is no limit to the number of donations and no limit to the reduction in fines cardholders can receive. 

All Yolo County Library cardholders can donate food from November 15 through December 15 at the circulation desk of any Yolo County Library location.  Donated items will be given to the Yolo Food Bank to feed the hungry this winter.  Suggested donations include the following:
