Countywide Homeless Program

Yolo County is pleased to announce the appointment of Tracey Dickinson as the county’s new full-time homeless program coordinator.  Ms. Dickinson has most recently served as an analyst in the County Administrator’s Office.

The homeless program coordinator is a newly created position that will focus on coordination and expansion of the countywide homeless system, as well as supervising the newly created Homeless Services Unit in the county’s recently formed Health & Human Services Agency.  The unit will also include:

Craft-brewing leader gives $1 million to enhance UC Davis brewing facility

Carlos Alvarez, founder and owner of The Gambrinus Company of San Antonio, Texas, announced a $1 million gift to the brewing science program at UC Davis

The gift will fund new brewing and laboratory equipment at UC Davis to create the brewery of the future. The gift from Alvarez will build on previous investments and secure UC Davis’ position as a leader in brewing education.

Stacey Peterson Appointed Human Resources Director

This week, the Yolo County Board of Supervisors welcomed new Yolo County Human Resources Director Stacey Peterson.  Prior to joining Yolo County, Ms. Peterson served as the City of Rancho Cordova’s chief people officer and as a human resources manager in a variety of capacities for the County of Sacramento.

“I am delighted to join the Yolo County team and look forward to further evolving the human resources programs to recruit, retain and engage talented employees to innovate and deliver quality service to the community,” said Yolo County Human Resources Director Stacey Peterson.

Stacey Peterson holds a bachelors and a master of arts in psychology from California State University Sacramento.

The Yolo County Department of Employment & Social Services is teaming up with Congressman John Garamendi, the Workforce Development Collaborative and the Yolo County Workforce Investment Board to advance individual job readiness and connect job seekers with employers through a Job Fair on Friday, June 19, 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 25 North Cottonwood Street in Woodland.

There will be more than 50 local businesses and apprenticeship programs represented at the Job Fair. Computers will be available for employment seekers to complete applications and submit resumes to prospective employers on the spot.  Employment specialists will also be available to help craft and review resumes, providing constructive feedback to increase an applicant’s likelihood of success.

Former California State Superintendent of Public Instruction Delaine Eastin received her undergraduate degree in political science from UC Davis.

As California state superintendent of public instruction, Delaine Eastin cut class size and administrative costs, increased student access to technology and helped 3,000 schools plant their own gardens.
