Yolo D.A. charges Katt Williams with battery | News
YOLO COUNTY, CA - Comedian Katt Williams is wanted for misdemeanor battery after he allegedly attacked a security guard at a Target store in Woodland Nov. 25.
The Yolo County District Attorney's Office filed a criminal complaint on Monday alleging that Williams, whose legal name is Micah S. Williams, committed misdemeanor battery when he allegedly struck the guard.
Williams' arraignment was set for Jan. 9, 2013, in Yolo County Superior Court.
According to Woodland police, there was an argument between Williams and the alleged victim and the comedian became physical. Police talked to witnesses and reviewed store surveillance video before making a report to the district attorney's office.
"I reviewed the video myself and there was a strike to the face," Woodland police Sgt. Steve Guthrie said. "I could not tell if it was open-handed or if it was a closed fist, but there was a strike to the individual's face."
In an interview with KOMO-TV in Seattle, Williams admitted to hitting the guard but claimed the man said if Williams hadn't had his children with him, he would have hit the comedian.
Williams then said the guard wanted him to hit him first "so I can sue you after."
