DAVIS - After the death of a loved one, you can feel cut off from friends, family and life. The Reinvesting in Life After Loss support group is for those who have experienced loss and are seeking support as they move past the early stages of grief to reinvesting in life. It is common to look for extra support in this time of transition. Establishing new goals, facing the changes in your life and moving forward is an act of will. The group environment of Reinvesting in Life After Loss allows for support, understanding, and discussion of these changes.

WHAT: A five-week educational and support group.

WHEN: Wednesdays, July 13 - August 10, 2011 from 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M.

Program allows kids to visit incarcerated parents for Father's Day

VACAVILLE - California State Prison-Solano will host a "Get on the Bus" event for incarcerated fathers to visit with their families for Father's Day. The event will take place from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 18 at the prison located at 2100 Peabody Road.

The non-profit group "Get on the Bus," designated by the California Center for Restorative Justice, uses donations to keep buses moving so kids can visit their parents on Mother's and Father's Day each year. The hope is that these children of incarcerated parents will not follow in their footsteps.

Suicide prevention crisis line volunteer training begins June 23

DAVIS - Suicide Prevention and Crisis Services of Yolo County will begin crisis line volunteer training on Thursday, June 23, for its 24-hour crisis lines. Volunteers need to be at least 20 years of age, have a clear telephone voice, plan to be in the Yolo County area for the coming year, allocate six hours a week to the crisis line and have an interest in helping people in crisis.

The Suicide Prevention crisis line training provides individuals a chance to provide telephone counseling to callers who are dealing with a variety of issues, including depression, loneliness, grief, suicidality, family crisis, and interpersonal conflict.
