Woodland Tomato Festival set for Aug. 13

WOODLAND - Tomatoes are an important part of Yolo County's local heritage and are well worthy of celebration. The Woodland Tomato Festival steering committee announced the 4th annual Tomato Festival will arrive Saturday, August 13.

Yolo County Tomatoes account for more than $100 million dollars in agricultural production annually. More than 40,000 acres of commercial tomatoes are planted each year with countless more in the backyards of Woodlanders everywhere.

Held every year at Freeman Park on Main Street in downtown Woodland, from 9 a .m. - 2 p.m., the festival features family fun for all ages. From the live performances and free tomato tasting to the “Best Salsa in Town” restaurant competition, it is a whirlwind of tomato fun.

“As Yolo County Master Gardeners, one of the things we like doing the most is to participate in the Woodland Tomato Festival” says Master Gardener Steve Radosevich.
