Programs at the Esparto Regional Library in December

The following special programs will be held during the month of December at Yolo County’s Esparto Regional Library, located at 17065 Yolo Avenue in Esparto:

  • December 8: Mad Science of Sacramento Valley: Fire and Ice, 3:15 p.m.  Children will be dazzled at this spectacular show by dry ice storms, the whoosh of a fiery jet ‘engine’ and a Mad Science burp-flavored potion! 
  • December 15: Afternoon Movie, 3:00 p.m.  All children and their families are invited to view a family-friendly or teen appropriate movie (G, PG or PG-13) at the library.  For movie title call (530) 787-3426.

Equity Summit Series: Children & Family Poverty November 19

Join the Yolo County Library, Yolo County Office of Education and the UC Davis Center for Regional Change for the second of four presentations in the Yolo County Education & Equity Summit Series on November 19 from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the City Hall Galleria, located at 1110 West Capitol Avenue in West Sacramento.

The November 19 presentation focus of Children & Family Poverty will be presented by M. Anne Visser, Ph.D., assistant professor for the UC Davis Department of Human Ecology.  Dr. Visser studies the forms of social, economic and political exclusion (such as poverty, citizenship status, race, class and gender) that result in inequality and social stratification.  Her work includes studying the impacts of these inequities on young people and the capacity of government policy and civil society to address socioeconomic inequality in the United States and abroad.

The following programs are being held this fall at the Winters Community Library, located at 708 Railroad Avenue in Winters: 

  • Family Story Time, Mondays at 10:30 a.m.
  • Tales for Tails, Tuesdays at 3:30 p.m.
  • Needle Arts, 1st and 3rd Tuesdays at 4:00 p.m.
  • SUCCESS, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3:00 p.m.
  • Role Play Group, Wednesdays at 1:30 p.m.
  • Family Movie, Last Saturday of the month at 2:00 p.m.
  • Tuleyome’s Quirky Quercus Program, November 19 at 4:00 p.m.

Pajama Storytime Tuesdays at the Davis Branch Library

Put on your favorite PJs, grab your slippers and head over to the Mary L. Stephens Davis Branch Library on Tuesday nights at 6:30 p.m. for Pajama Storytime!

Pajama Storytime will be held in the Children’s Activity Room of the library, located at 315 E. 14th Street in Davis, which is accessible for persons with disabilities.  This program is free to attend and geared towards children ages 3-5.  No reservations are required and all families are welcome.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a pillow and their favorite stuffed animal to cuddle with as they listen to stories, sing songs and participate in fun activities, including yoga stretches before bedtime.  Children can choose a book from the library’s themed display to take home and read before bed.
