(Woodland, CA) – The following special programs will be held during the month of March at Yolo County’s Arthur F. Turner Community Library, located at 1212 Merkley Avenue in West Sacramento:

  • March 5: Special Tot Play Time: Little Einstein, 3:00 p.m.  This special play time is designed for toddlers and their parents or caregivers.
  • March 5, 12, 19: Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA), 9:00 a.m.  Get free assistance on completing your taxes!  Volunteers are available and specially trained to help.
  • March 10 & 23: All Things String, 6:00 p.m.  This crafting circle is for anyone who knits, crochets, embroiders or enjoys fiber art.  Bring a project or start something new.
  • March 12 & 26: IT Consultant by Appointment Only, 2:00 p.m.  This new service allows customers to ask questions and bring their laptop or mobile device.  Samples of Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Apple devices will be on hand.  Make an appointment in Spanish or English at the information desk or by telephone at (916) 375-6465.
  • March 12: Master Gardening: Preparing Your Garden, 3:00 p.m.  Learn how to prepare your garden for spring planting with the Yolo County Master Gardeners.  Supplies provided.
  • March 14: Cyber Seniors: Internet, 10:00 a.m.  Discover the Internet while learning about Internet safety and browsers.  Registration is required either in person at the reference desk or by telephone at (916) 375-6465.  Space is limited to the first 20 people.
  • March 14 & 28: Elders Celebrating Life Series: Life Review, 12:30 p.m.  Come and explore the natural aging process from Doing to Being.  Discuss topics such as losses and gains, self-compassion, forgiveness and more.  Facilitated by Katheryn Haines.
  • March 16: What’s Happening Seniors? 12:00 p.m.  Are you looking to get together with interested and active seniors or make new friends?  Come share stories, learn from one another and find out ‘What’s Happening’ in West Sacramento and beyond!
  • March 16: Evening Book Club, 6:00 p.m.  This month’s reading selection is The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon.  Contact Cindy at (916) 731-5504 for more information.
  • March 19: Game Day, 3:00 p.m.  Families are invited to come and play a variety of board games!
  • March 25: Tai Chi and Qigong, Part V, 4:00 p.m.  Come and learn a series of movements and breathing exercises to help with general wellness, stress relief, flexibility and more.
  • March 26: Digital Story Telling, 3:00 p.m.  High school students in grades 9-12 and their parents or caregivers are invited to learn all about the SAT and ACT. 
  • March 28: Tales for Tails, 4:00 p.m.  Children ages 6-12 are invited to meet up to five special dogs who love listening to stories and build their own confidence in reading out loud.  After ten visits, children can pick one free book.
  • March 30: West Sacramento Friends of the Library Meeting, 5:30 p.m.  This non-profit 501(c)(3) organization is dedicated to serving the West Sacramento community through supporting library programs and services.

  • Buddy Reading: Mondays at 4:30 p.m.
  • Mother Goose on the Loose: Tuesdays at 11:00 a.m.
  • Russian Story Time: Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m.
  • Homework Center: Tuesdays and Thursday at 3:00 p.m.
  • Preschool Story Time: Wednesdays at 11:00 a.m.
  • Hug-a-Bye-Baby: Thursdays at 11:00 a.m.
  • English Conversation Group: Fridays at 10:00 a.m.
  • Spanish/English Story Time: Saturdays at 11:00 a.m.
