February Programs at the Esparto Regional Library

All are welcome to participate in the following special programs held during the month of February at Yolo County’s Esparto Regional Library, located at 17065 Yolo Avenue in Esparto:

  • February 11: Valentine’s Day Crafts, 3:00 p.m.  Create your own Valentine’s Day card and bookmark!
  • February 16: Afternoon Movie, 3:00 p.m.  All children and their families are invited to view a family-friendly or teen appropriate movie (Rated G or PG).  For movie title call (530) 787-3426.
  • February 23: Ben Ofori African Drums, 3:15 p.m.  Join us for traditional African drumming and dance.
  • February 24: Children’s Art Class with Julie, 3:30 p.m.  This hands-on class will feature no-fire clay pots.

Sacramento to Celebrate Heart Month with Go Red For Women Event at Arden Fair

Featuring a Macy’s fashion show, healthy cooking demos, CPR trainings, giveaways and more

WHAT:  The American Heart Association in Sacramento will celebrate American Heart Month with its own Go Red fashion show at Arden Fair on Saturday, February 6. The fashion show will feature local adult and children heart disease survivors, cardiologists and volunteers. The event will also feature healthy cooking demos, free health screenings, CPR trainings and giveaways. Women, men and families of all ages are invited to attend the celebration and to help raise awareness of heart disease as the number one killer of women by wearing red.       

WHO:  The American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women is asking everyone to help America Go Red!

(Woodland, CA) – The following programs for adults will be held during the month of February at Yolo County’s Mary L. Stephens Davis Branch Library, located at 315 E. 14th Street in Davis:

  • February 5 – 7: Friends of the Davis Public Library Book Sale.  Public hours are Friday 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  Sunday has $5-a-bag deals and ‘Better Books’ are half price.  Members can shop the book sale early on Friday from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m.
  • February 6, 13, 20 and 27: UC Davis Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA), 10:00 a.m.  Free tax assistance is available to people who earn $54,000 or less.

·         February 8: Yolo County Prostate Cancer Support Group, 7:00 p.m.  This group helps prostate cancer patients and their caregivers find resources.

(Woodland, CA) – The following special programs will be held during the month of February at Yolo County’s Winters Community Library, located at 708 Railroad Avenue in Winters:

  • February 4: Africa to the Americas: Fenix Drum and Dance Company, 6:30 p.m.  Celebrate and learn about the influence of African music and dance showcased in this energetic and interactive performance featuring live drumming and storytelling.
  • February 10: Drop-In Valentine’s Day Crafts, 2:00 p.m.  Create a fun craft for Valentine’s Day!  All supplies provided by the library.

Free Immunization Clinics in Winters

Free Immunization Clinics in Winters

The Yolo County Health & Human Services Agency will begin holding regularly scheduled immunization clinics at the Winters Service Center, located at 111 E. Grant Avenue, on the first Monday of every other month, starting on February 1.

No appointment is needed to take advantage of this free service.  All recommended vaccinations, except varicella (chicken pox), will be available for children ages 0-18 years who are uninsured, Medi-cal eligible, American Indian or Alaskan Native, and those whose insurance does not cover the needed vaccinations.  The clinic will also be offering hepatitis A, hepatitis B, HPV (human papillomavirus), meningococcal and MMR (measles mumps, rubella), vaccines to uninsured or underinsured adults, 19 years and older.  Flu, pneumococcal and Tdap (adult tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccines are available for adults regardless of insurance status.

(Woodland, CA) – Join the Yolo County Library and the UC Davis Campus Community Book Project for an interactive workshop entitled, “Equitable, Inclusive and Just Communities: Exploring historical policies, constructs and practices to create healthier societies” on January 31 from 2:00 to 5:30 p.m. in the Blanchard Room of the Mary L. Stephens Davis Branch Library, located at 315 E. 14th Street in Davis.
