Northern California Construction Training Opens Its Doors in Woodland
Northern California Construction Training (NCCT) has opened its doors in Woodland, thanks to recent funding from the Yolo County Board of Supervisors. Citing the correlation between lack of employment and a high risk for re-offense within the criminal justice population, the Board of Supervisors voted to support bringing NCCT to Woodland to enhance local efforts to break the cycle of recidivism.
Located at the Yolo County Fairgrounds, NCCT is a non-profit, community-based pre-apprenticeship program that teaches and mentors students, enabling them to successfully transition to careers in construction. The NCCT curriculum includes classroom work and hands-on building experience, including help in obtaining a driver's license and GED if necessary. Participants are taught by credentialed teacher-trainers who are master carpenters with years of experience.
