Man dies in Suisun City shooting | Crime
SUISUN CITY, CA - A 40-year-old man is dead after he was shot when the newspaper delivery vehicle he was in was fired at in Suisun City Wednesday night.
The Suisun City Police Department said the shooting took place on the 800 block of Cackling Drive at 11:48 p.m.
Detectives have learned several people were standing in front of a home at 819 Cackling Drive at the same time. Officers found shell casings suggesting the shots were fired from the same location.
Based on that and other information from witnesses, detectives contacted and questioned a 27-year-old man in connection with the shooting. Daniel Jimenez Diaz was released pending further investigation.
Police have not found a connection between the victim, Gadiel Nunez, and those in front of the house.
Nunez was taken to the hospital for treatment, where he later died.
Investigators said they are checking reports there may have been a drive-by shooting in the area just before the newspaper delivery vehicle came on the scene and those allegedly involved may have thought another shooting was about to occur.
Anyone who can add information to what detectives have learned was asked to contact Det. Evic Vera or Sgt. Dave Kasid at (707) 421-7373.
