Two arrested following Woodland stabbing

WOODLAND, CA - Two men were arrested Wednesday following a stabbing in Woodland.

Lieutenant Anthony Cucchi of the Woodland Police Dept. said officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Elm St. at 12:44 p.m. in response to a call of a man who had been stabbed.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers found an individual suffering from a life-threatening wound to the neck. Medical response was called to the scene and transported the man to a nearby medical center where he was listed in critical, but stable condition.

While at the scene, officers learned the suspected attackers had fled the location in a burgundy sedan. Further information collected in the investigation revealed the sedan was spotted on East Gibson Rd. Woodland police officers then located the vehicle, performed a traffic stop, and arrested two men for allegations of attempted homicide, said Cucchi.

The first suspected attacker was identified as Rudy Gonzales Jr., 26, of Woodland.

The second suspected attacker was identified as Javier Gortarez Jr., 24, of Woodland.

According to Cucchi, the case was being investigated by the Woodland Police Department and the Yolo County Gang Task Force.
