Crime

VALLEJO - Vallejo police shot and killed a man in a Safeway parking lot early Wednesday morning.

The Vallejo police department received a domestic violence call around 2:55 a.m. According to their communications center, the suspect, 44-year-old Marshall Tobin, was hitting and possibly choking a woman.

By the time the officers arrived at the address, they had received a second call letting them know Tobin had driven to the Safeway on Lincoln Road and that he was armed with a gun.

Police said when the officers approached Tobin in the parking lot, he appeared distraught and the hand gun was visible. They ordered him multiple times to place his hands on head.

When he didn't do it, they used a taser on him. It was then that Tobin reached for and grabbed his gun.

The officers shot Tobin who died from his wounds.

The officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave while the shooting is being investigated.
