Reminder: Equitable, Inclusive & Just Communities Workshop January 31

The Yolo County Library invites all to attend an interactive workshop entitled, “Equitable, Inclusive and Just Communities: Exploring historical policies, constructs and practices to create healthier societies” on January 31 from 2:00 to 5:30 p.m. in the Blanchard Room of the Mary L. Stephens Davis Branch Library, located at 315 E. 14th Street in Davis.

This workshop, a part of the UC Davis Campus Community Book Project, will review the various levels of cultural and social inequities that have affected diverse groups in the U.S. as well as helpful techniques and movements to create an improved and more self-aware society.  The workshop will be facilitated by Sandy Holman, director of the Culture C.O.-O.P. and an award-winning author, who will provide insight and information on how to make local communities more accepting.  She is known for her optimistic, proactive, holistic, culturally relevant and intergenerational methodology.

“We encourage all to attend this amazing workshop,” said Yolo County Librarian, Patty Wong.  “It is important to know the history of the society in which we live, and be more involved and conscious with what is happening today.”

This workshop is free to attend.  Space is limited and registration is strongly encouraged either in person at the reference desk or by telephone at (530) 757-5598.  The Blanchard Room of the Mary L. Stephens Davis Branch Library is accessible for persons with disabilities.

The Yolo County Library encourages personal growth and provides an accepting and inclusive environment for everyone to learn.  This workshop was made possible through a partnership with the UC Davis Campus Community Book Project, the Friends of the Davis Public Library and the Culture C.O.-O.P.
