The following special programs will be held during the month of February at Yolo County’s Arthur F. Turner Community Library, located at 1212 Merkley Avenue in West Sacramento:

  • February 1-14: Blind Date with a Book.  Back by popular demand, cardholders can checkout one of our mysteriously wrapped books!  
  • February 2: Computer Class: Facebook, 9:00 a.m.  Participants will learn how to use Facebook to connect with friends and family.  This includes instruction on how to register online and create a user profile.
  • February 6: Special Tot Play Time: Little Picasso, 3:00 p.m.  Toddlers and their parents or caregivers can join us for drawing, painting and creating artistic crafts.
  • February 8: Cyber Seniors: Introduction to the Computer, 10:00 a.m.  This class is geared towards adults who have never used a computer.  Space is limited and registration is required either in person at the reference desk or by telephone at (916) 375-6465.
  • February 8: Chinese New Year Celebration.  Come celebrate the Year of the Monkey with the library!  All participants will receive a red envelope with a goody inside. 
  • February 8-14: Valentine’s Day Crafts.  Create your own special Valentine’s Day craft.
  • February 13 and 27: Information Technology (IT) Consultant by Appointment Only, 2:00 p.m.  Patrons can ask IT questions and bring their mobile device or laptop.  Appointments are available in English or Spanish and may be scheduled in person at the reference desk or by telephone at (916) 375-6465.
  • February 13: Master Gardening: Cactuses & Succulents, 3:00 p.m.  Learn how to grow cactuses and succulents.  Presented by the local Master Gardeners. 
  • February 17: Evening Book Club, 6:00 p.m.  February’s reading selection is The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon.  Contact Cindy at (916) 731-5504 for more information.
  • February 18: SAT vs. ACT, 6:00 p.m.  High school students and their parents or caregivers are invited to learn about the SAT and ACT. 
  • February 20: STEAM: Solar System, 3:00 p.m.  Children ages 6 through 12 will learn about the solar system and create one of their own.  All materials will be provided. 
  • February 24: West Sacramento Friends of the Library Meeting (WSFOL), 5:30 p.m.  The WSFOL is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to serving the West Sacramento community in supporting library programs and services and is always looking for new friends! 
  • February 25: USCIS Series: Citizenship, 6:00 p.m.  Discover how to become a U.S. citizen from a U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services representative from District 22. 
  • February 25: Duct Tape Crafts, 1:00 p.m.  Teens will use duct tape to create unique crafts.  All materials will be provided.
  • February 29: Tai Chi & Qigong Part IV, 4:00 p.m.  Learn a series of movements and breathing exercises for general wellness, stress relief, physical balance, flexibility and fall prevention.

  • All Things String: February 11 and 24 at 6:00 p.m.
  • Elders Celebrating Life Series: February 13 and 22 at 12:30 p.m.
  • What’s Happening, Seniors?: February 17 at 12:00 p.m.
  • Tales for Tails: February 22 at 4:00 p.m. After 10 visits receive a free book!

NOTICES: Yolo County Library branches will be closed on February 15 in observance of the Presidents’ Day holiday.
