Countywide Homeless Program

Yolo County is pleased to announce the appointment of Tracey Dickinson as the county’s new full-time homeless program coordinator.  Ms. Dickinson has most recently served as an analyst in the County Administrator’s Office.

The homeless program coordinator is a newly created position that will focus on coordination and expansion of the countywide homeless system, as well as supervising the newly created Homeless Services Unit in the county’s recently formed Health & Human Services Agency.  The unit will also include:

  • A mental health specialist, responsible for outreach and case management with people experiencing homelessness
  • A social work practitioner, responsible for providing case management to participants in the new Homeless Diversion Program (also known as the Homeless Neighborhood Court)
  • West Sacramento’s homeless program manager, responsible for outreach and program management in the community of West Sacramento (note: this is a West Sacramento employee that will receive supervision and support from the county Homeless Services Unit)

Prior to her tenure with Yolo County, Tracey Dickinson served almost a decade in the social services field.  Her experiences included working with survivors of domestic violence and youth living in group homes, as well as two years in Thailand in the Peace Corps.  These experiences allowed her to learn firsthand about the types of life experiences that can lead to homelessness (such as poverty, trauma, family dysfunction and/or behavioral health conditions), as well as appropriate interventions for addressing these issues.  Ms. Dickinson holds a bachelors in social work from California State University, Chico and a masters in public policy and administration from California State University, Sacramento.

“Tracey has been instrumental in preparing us as we embark on an ambitious and strategic approach to reducing homelessness countywide,” said Yolo County Board of Supervisors Chair Matt Rexroad.  “Of note, she played a key role in the planning, implementation and tracking of outcomes for our Bridge to Housing program, a collaborative and successful pilot project with Yolo County Housing, the City of West Sacramento and numerous other partners to address a homeless encampment in West Sacramento.”

The salary range for the homeless program coordinator position is $73,354-$93,685.
