(Woodland, CA) – Join the Yolo County Library and the UC Davis Campus Community Book Project for an interactive workshop entitled, “Equitable, Inclusive and Just Communities: Exploring historical policies, constructs and practices to create healthier societies” on January 31 from 2:00 to 5:30 p.m. in the Blanchard Room of the Mary L. Stephens Davis Branch Library, located at 315 E. 14th Street in Davis.

Sandy Holman, long time Director of the Culture C.O.O.P., will provide insight and information on how to make local communities more accepting and healthier culturally.  Sandy is an award-winning author who has spoken locally and nationally on a variety of topics such as the achievement gap, literacy and character education.  She has influenced thousands with her gentle approach in working with youth and adults and the difficult issues they face.  Sandy is known for her optimistic and proactive methodology that is holistic, culturally relevant and intergenerational.

“We hope that local and regional communities will join us for this workshop,” said Yolo County Librarian, Patty Wong.  “By learning together we will grow together.”

This workshop is free to attend.  Space is limited and registration is strongly encouraged either in person at the reference desk or by telephone at (530) 757-5598.  The Blanchard Room of the Mary L. Stephens Davis Branch Library is accessible for persons with disabilities.

The Yolo County Library encourages personal growth and provides an accepting and inclusive environment for everyone to learn.  This workshop was made possible through a partnership with the UC Davis Campus Community Book Project, the Friends of the Davis Public Library and the Culture C.O.O.P.
