On the 28th of June 2013 at approximatley 5:30pm, a Woodland Police Department officer was dispatched to the Lincoln Manor Apartments at 154 Lincoln Ave for a possible animal cruelty incident.  Upon arrival, the officer spoke with a resident who had a cat that appeared to poisoned.  The resident, who cares for the cat, stated that at least 5 cats in the complex suffered similar symptoms in the last week.  Additionally, the resident said that no fewer than 5 other tenants in the complex have reported their cats missing in the last month.

The reporting officer spoke with a second apartment complex resident who stated 5 kittens disappeared overnight from his back patio.  The resident said this past week he discovered at least 5 other deceased kittens stacked next to a dumpster.

According to a Sergeant with Yolo County Animal Control, they recovered a cat from the Lincoln Manor apartment complex last week that succumbed to poisoning.  The Sergeant cited anti-freeze as the toxin the was given to the cat.

Anybody with information about the poisoning, attempted poisoning, or intentional killing of cats is encouraged to notify the Woodland Police Department and Yolo County Animal Control office.  

Suspects of animal cruelty and animal poisoning face felony charges, incarceration in the State prison, and a fine of $20,000.
